The most important thing about both is quality. In video shoot, your video is of usually fewer megapixels that the camera originally carries. It is because videos are of constantly moving objects so it is unable to fully focus on one thing is give its best resolution video. While in still shot, you can get images in full resolution as in an image, you don’t have to capture constantly moving objects. This shows how time-lapse is a better option as even if you have to zoom or crop, you can still have a pretty clear picture in construction site time-lapse.
The best thing about time-lapse is the 180-degree rule, which is defined as the idea to blur moving things in the frame. This option adds a unique ability to the time-lapse images making them look as they were many images taken professionally, even if you are a beginner, and focuses on the only more important changes. The other important point is that time-lapse can adjust the exposure which helps in bright or sudden lights falling on the camera and it ruins the image. In the simple video, you cannot set it as you don’t know how the light would fall from different angles and you cannot take a 180-degree rule picture which makes it less appealing.
Video cameras cannot store much media as compared to time-lapse cameras. Time-lapse camera for construction project mainly requires a lot of storage as many images of high quality is taken over regular time intervals. This makes it hard for a usual video camera to capture for weeks to months. The still images can be quite difficult to store all on the camera which requires a lot more storage than a video camera. This doesn’t mean that time-lapse is the only option for the time-lapse video construction site. A video shoot can also be better if you want the detailed video without much time intervals. Sometimes the interval needs to be even less than a second which is where videography comes in handy. So it’s up to you what seems right to you.
